European funds from the ERDF 2021-2027 program have finally come into full swing, and in 2026, we have several measures active simultaneously.
Many merchants believe that to obtain a grant, they need an agency with fifty employees. This is not the case. Women and Business Grant 2026: Up to 100,000 Euros in Non-Repayable Funds
If your business is women-led, this is undoubtedly the most interesting measure of 2026. With a total allocation of 3 million euros, the "Women and Business" grant supports projects presented by self-employed women, female sole proprietorships, or companies where the presence of women is predominant.
The grant covers 70% of eligible expenses with a non-repayable contribution that can reach up to 100,000 euros. To participate, your project must involve a minimum expenditure of 25,000 euros. Eligible expenses include machinery, equipment, and, of course, the development of software applications and platforms for online sales. There is also a specific lump-sum incentive of approximately 5,000 euros dedicated precisely to the adoption of digital commerce systems and digital marketing tools.
Applications officially open on April 22, 2026, and will close on June 10, 2026, but the form on the GeCoWEB Plus platform is already accessible from April 15 for drafting. There is no wild "click day" anxiety: projects will be evaluated based on a scoring grid that rewards factors such as sustainability, youth entrepreneurship, and company co-financing. Lazio SME Digitalization Voucher: The SaaS Deception and How to Solve It
Many entrepreneurs who participated in the "SME Digitalization Voucher" of the Lazio Region encountered a significant technical problem. This grant, which provides substantial contributions (up to 50,000 euros for micro-enterprises and up to 150,000 euros for medium-sized enterprises) with a minimum investment of 14,000 euros, uses a system of fixed lump sums. For the e-commerce part (Intervention C - Digital Commerce & Engagement), the voucher recognizes a fixed lump sum of 4,950 euros for micro-enterprises and 8,120 euros for small enterprises.
Where is the deception? The grant explicitly excludes software provided in SaaS (Software as a Service) mode regarding the pure cost of licenses and usage fees. Many thought, "Shopify works on a monthly subscription, so I can't use it!"
The reality is different. The grant fully covers all "Professional ICT Services" related to configuration, customization, system integration, and specialist support, for a total duration of up to 36 months. This means that while you will pay the small monthly fee for Shopify (Basic, Shopify, or Advanced) out of your own pocket, the entire cost of my engineering work to program the theme, optimize the code, connect your management systems (ERP or CRM), and configure payment gateways is covered by the non-repayable funding from the Region. Furthermore, for small and medium-sized enterprises, the grant mandatorily requires an ex-ante and ex-post Digital Diagnosis signed by a certified Innovation Manager to ascertain the effectiveness of the intervention.
Artisan Value Grant 2026: The Gold of Rome and Latina Going Online
If you are a registered artisan for at least 5 years, the Lazio Region has allocated 6 million euros for a fabulous initiative called "Artisan Value." The grant is divided into two lines of action: the "Development" line (which finances machinery and energy transition at 60% up to 12,000 euros) and the "Enhancement of Artistic and Traditional Craftsmanship" line, which covers 80% of expenses up to 10,000 euros (extendable to 12,000 euros) for the development of proprietary e-commerce channels and digital marketing strategies.
With a minimum expenditure of just 5,000 euros, a goldsmith from Rome or a ceramist from Latina can have 80% of an optimized Shopify store financed to sell their unique pieces worldwide. This means making a concrete investment in their future by safeguarding company liquidity. Here too, it goes through GeCoWEB Plus, and, as it is an over-the-counter procedure with limited funds, preparing impeccable technical documentation before clicking is the only way not to be left empty-handed.
The Dual Transition Voucher of the Rome Chamber of Commerce
If your company is based in Rome or its province, you cannot ignore the periodic calls for applications from the Digital Business Point (PID) of the Rome Chamber of Commerce. The "Dual Digital and Ecological Transition Voucher Grant" provides non-repayable contributions equal to 70% of eligible expenses, up to a maximum of 10,000 euros, with a minimum required expenditure of just 3,000 euros.
By choosing "Line A - Digital Transition," you can include "e-commerce systems" (the famous item 14 of the grant) among the eligible expenses. Compared to regional grants, bureaucracy here is slightly leaner, but allocation occurs with a ruthless chronological "click day." Applications are examined down to the last available cent. Arriving at the submission moment with technical quotes already prepared, detailed, and consistent with the required enabling technologies is crucial for being admitted.
MIMIT: 20,000 Euros to Secure Cloud and Cybersecurity
Let's not forget the national level. The Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), through Infratel and Invitalia, manages the call for the purchase of Cloud and Cybersecurity services with an allocation of 150 million euros. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended until 12:00 PM on May 27, 2026.
If you already have a Shopify e-commerce or are about to launch one, this grant offers you a non-repayable contribution of up to 50% of expenses, with a maximum of 20,000 euros. The only initial requirement is to have a business internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download speed. This is the ideal opportunity to finance the migration of your databases to secure clouds, implement redundant backup systems, or configure advanced cybersecurity barriers against payment fraud.
