How Much Does Shopify Cost in Italy in 2026? Plans and Costs to Consider

Direct answer: as of September 3, 2026, Shopify's official Italy pricing page lists, with annual billing, $29 USD/month for Basic, $79 USD/month for Grow and $299 USD/month for Advanced. With monthly billing it lists $39, $105 and $399 USD/month respectively. Shopify states that prices can vary depending on store location, so the official pricing page shown for your account and market should always be checked before choosing a plan.

The platform subscription is only one cost item. Payments, domain, theme, apps, development, marketing, logistics and the tax or administrative requirements applicable to the business also need to be considered.

Which plan should you choose?

Basic

For many projects starting from scratch, Basic already includes the online store, unlimited products, Shopify Payments, Shopify Markets and many native features. The choice should not be based on the idea that a more expensive plan automatically sells more, but on the features actually required.

Grow

Grow adds, among other differences indicated by Shopify, additional staff accounts and different payment economics. It can make sense when the organization or transaction profile needs those features, not simply because the store has started receiving more orders.

Advanced

Advanced is intended for more complex requirements, for example around international operations, reporting and shipping. Here too, the right comparison is between the features actually used and the additional subscription cost.

How much do payment fees matter?

On the official pricing page Shopify lists online card rates starting at 2.9% + 30¢ USD on Basic, 2.7% + 30¢ USD on Grow and 2.5% + 30¢ USD on Advanced. For third-party payment providers, the page lists 2%, 1% and 0.6% respectively.

These figures should not be turned into a universal formula for choosing a plan. Real cost depends on country, payment method, card type, currency, volume and merchant conditions. Check the current Shopify admin and documentation before building a business case.

What other costs should a Shopify ecommerce business consider?

Domain

A custom domain is separate from the Shopify plan and its price depends on the registrar and extension.

Theme

You can start with a free theme or buy a paid one. The license price alone does not tell you whether a store will be faster or convert better: implementation, media, apps, content and modification quality matter.

Apps

Apps can have monthly, usage-based or plan-related charges. Before installing one, I check whether the function already exists in Shopify, can be implemented appropriately in Liquid or genuinely needs an app. When the logic is specific and existing solutions do not cover it well, I also handle Shopify app development and custom integrations.

Development and support

Cost depends on scope. Configuring a store, redesigning a theme, migrating data, fixing a bug or developing an app are very different activities. A serious quotation should state what will be done, which dependencies exist and what is outside the scope.

Logistics

Carriers, packaging, returns and shipping software depend on products, volume and destinations. I avoid presenting a single average rate as valid for every merchant; quotations based on the actual shipping profile are more useful.

Marketing

Advertising, email marketing, content and SEO do not have a universal minimum budget. Before setting a figure you need to know margin, product, market, channels and whether the store can measure what is happening reliably.

Tax and administrative costs in Italy

For an Italian ecommerce business, VAT registration, registrations, social-security contributions, accounting, electronic invoicing and other obligations may apply. Rates, thresholds, business codes and requirements depend on the specific operator and can change.

For that reason I do not treat a tax table on a blog as sufficient guidance for starting a business. Shopify configuration should be coordinated with current advice from the accountant or other qualified professional.

So what does it really cost to start?

The useful answer is not one fixed number. Initial and recurring cost is the sum of:

  • the Shopify plan selected;
  • domain and, if needed, theme;
  • essential apps;
  • professional development or configuration where required;
  • administrative and tax tools;
  • logistics for physical products;
  • customer acquisition and content budget.

A small project can start with a very lean structure; a complex catalog, multiple markets or custom integrations require a different investment. The correct approach is to design the cost around the real project rather than start from a standard figure.
