Selling on TikTok and Instagram with Shopify: Catalogs and Checks

Direct answer: connecting Shopify to Meta or TikTok is not just a matter of enabling a sales channel: first you need to verify that catalog, variants, prices, availability and required data are consistent.
Before connecting the channel
I check product titles, images, variants, identifiers and availability. A feed cannot fix downstream a catalog that is inconsistent at the source.
Meta and TikTok
I use the official integrations and apps available at the time of the project and verify accounts, permissions and market requirements. Features change over time: I do not treat shops, checkout or synchronization as universally available.
Tracking
Pixels and conversion APIs should be verified with test events and diagnostic tools. No configuration guarantees perfect attribution or a predetermined advertising return.
Common errors
- misaligned variants;
- missing images or attributes;
- different prices across data sources;
- products rejected by the channel;
- duplicate tracking;
- merchant policies inconsistent with the information in the feed.
When custom development is needed
If the official channel does not cover a specific workflow, I assess APIs, custom feeds or a dedicated Shopify app. I am Francesco Guiducci, a freelance Shopify expert and Shopify app developer: I work on Basic, Shopify and Advanced stores and choose between native features, an existing app and custom development based on the actual requirement.
