WooCommerce to Shopify Migration 2026: Data, Redirects and Tests

Direct answer: a WooCommerce-to-Shopify migration should be designed as a data transfer and architecture rebuild, not as an automatic copy of the old website.
Initial inventory
I map products, variants, customers, categories, indexed URLs, content, integrations and functions that need to survive the move.
Data
Before import I clean and normalize the fields intended for Shopify. I do not promise that every object in the old system has a native equivalent: what does not is mapped to metafields, metaobjects, an app or another appropriate structure.
301 redirects
Every relevant URL needs a coherent destination. Redirects help reduce the risk of losing accumulated signals, but nobody can guarantee that rankings and traffic will remain identical after a migration.
Theme and functions
The frontend is rebuilt on Shopify Online Store 2.0. WordPress plugins are not “transferred”: for every function I verify a native equivalent, an app or custom development.
Testing
Before changing the domain I verify checkout, payments, shipping, taxes, emails, accounts, redirects and key pages. After go-live I monitor errors and indexing.
I am Francesco Guiducci, a freelance Shopify expert and Shopify app developer. I handle migrations on Basic, Shopify and Advanced plans and develop integrations when the project requires logic that is not covered by the storefront.
