I develop sections, blocks and features when native settings do not genuinely cover the requirement. Before writing code, I check whether Shopify, the theme or an app can solve the problem more simply.

When custom development is needed, I work with Liquid, HTML, CSS and JavaScript while keeping the Online Store 2.0 editor usable and the scope compatible with Basic, Grow and Advanced plans.

How I build a Shopify customisation

When custom development is genuinely needed

I recommend this approach when the theme and available apps do not cover a concrete requirement, or when you need a component consistent with your store’s data and processes.

Example: you want a product section that displays different information by category and remains manageable from the editor. After the Audit, I check what already exists, define the behaviour and edge cases, and propose the solution with its quotation.

I develop on a copy of the theme, check desktop, mobile and the affected flows, and show you the result before publication. You receive the agreed customisation, with the settings and guidance needed to manage it.

For logic outside the theme, I assess Shopify app development; to connect systems, see integrations and automation. A focused technical intervention may be enough to fix an existing feature.

Code that remains manageable

A customisation must solve the requirement without making the theme fragile. I isolate the code, reuse components and leave useful options in the editor.

For problems in existing code, I can also provide Shopify maintenance and bug fixing.

Frequently asked questions

When is it better to use an app?

Liquid controls the theme, but it does not replace a backend, database or persistent integrations. If the requirement goes beyond the frontend, I propose an app or integration.

Do you work with external page builders?

No. I work on Shopify Online Store 2.0 themes with native sections and Liquid code. If your store already uses a page builder, I analyse what depends on that tool and assess how to move the necessary parts into the theme.

Will the changes remain configurable?

When appropriate, yes. I expose useful settings without duplicating data that Shopify already manages.

Can you modify an existing theme?

Yes. If custom development is needed, I start with my Audit to check the structure and dependencies and define the quotation. I then work on a copy of the theme, review the changes and publish only with your approval.

Do you also develop for checkout?

It depends on the plan and the extensions allowed. I check the requirement and state any limitations immediately.
