Digital efficiency and sustainability in Shopify development
When I design or optimize a Shopify store I also consider technical efficiency: lighter pages, correctly sized images and less unnecessary code can reduce transferred data and work required from the user’s device. I do not turn these improvements into automatic CO2 estimates or unmeasured environmental claims.
Concrete interventions
- image and video compression and correct sizing;
- removal of scripts, apps and code that are no longer needed when technically safe;
- reduction of avoidable frontend dependencies;
- use of native Shopify features when sufficient;
- monitoring performance and Core Web Vitals as technical indicators, not environmental certification.
Accessibility and efficiency
A clear interface that works with keyboards and assistive technologies improves digital product quality. Here too I separate the technical objective from legal compliance: each requirement must be assessed for the specific case.
IFG approach
I’m Francesco Guiducci, a freelance Shopify expert and Shopify app developer. When two solutions provide the same function, I prefer the simpler one to maintain and the one with less unnecessary load, provided it actually meets the project requirement.
