Luxury of Homes: Shopify redesign for luxury furniture and interior design

Redesign

Complete redesign of a store previously handled by an agency, with a new premium theme, Liquid customizations and targeted work on speed and Core Web Vitals.

Project overview

Redesign

Complete redesign of the existing Shopify store.

Premium theme

New visual foundation aligned with the catalog's high-ticket positioning.

Performance

Work on loading speed and Core Web Vitals.

Liquid development

Functionality and customizations implemented directly in the theme.

Starting point

Luxury of Homes already had a Shopify eCommerce store, previously developed by an agency. The team had not been satisfied with the working relationship: communication was fragmented and the result did not fully meet expectations.

I came in as the single freelance point of contact to redesign the store, introduce a new theme and work directly on design, code and performance.

The challenge: premium quality, performance and simpler communication

The project required raising the visual standard without making the site heavier. Loading issues also made it necessary to work on performance and Core Web Vitals, not just the interface.

It was also important for the team to have one person to deal with instead of being passed between multiple people at an agency.

From a fragmented project to a redesign led by one point of contact

The redesign brought visual direction, custom development and technical optimization into a single workflow.

Prima

Existing store with technical and process limitations

  • Unsatisfactory previous agency experience
  • Communication spread across multiple people
  • Loading issues
  • Design and functionality to rethink

IFG's work

Store analysis

Assessment of the existing structure and theme.

UX/UI redesign

Redesign of the main customer-facing areas.

Premium theme

Adaptation of the visual foundation without introducing a page builder.

Theme development

Code changes for requirements not covered by standard configuration.

Catalog

Organisation of product and collection presentation.

Responsive experience

Consistency between desktop and mobile.

The outcome

The result is a store that better matches a high-ticket catalog, with a more refined visual presentation and reduced weight in the areas that affected loading.

The project illustrates the advantage of the IFG freelance model: direct communication, clear accountability and technical problem solving without intermediate handoffs.

Problem solving and direct accountability

One of the qualities clients most often recognize in my work is an engineer's approach: break down the problem, find the cause and reach a practical solution. In this project, that mindset applied both to the redesign and to performance.

Does your Shopify store need a redesign?

I start from the actual state of the theme and catalog to define what should stay, what should be redesigned and where technical development is justified.
